Super Smash for Wii U and 3DS just got spiced up with some serious flavor from Capcom! Yesterday images leaked that Ryu from Street Figther is joining the party and that also Roy from the Fire Emblem series is making his comeback.
This is some great news and makes the raster of choice able characters even bigger, better and more diverse. Seeing Roy joins the party again is also a very nice addition, although in my opinion they can stop with adding more Fire Emblem characters now. It’s time to give other (Nintendo) franchises a chance to prove themselves on the Battlegrounds of Super Smash.
There also appeared a mock-up of the Amiibo statues of all the new DLC characters and the last wave of standard character that weren’t already released:
Pretty sweet right? I’m planning to throw my money towards the Amiibo of Mewto, Roy and Ryu! Look at the bottom of this post to see more screens of the DLC characters for Super Smash for Wii U and 3DS.
Ryu, Roy and Lucas are all available for download today, so grab them the second the get in! With the purchase of some Nintendo eShop Points you get the job done. There are also new costumes for your Mii fighters surrounding game like Splatoon, Tekken, Virtua Fighter and Mega Man X. For € 30 you get the three fighters, two levels (Suzaku-Castle en Dreamland from the N64) and several costumes:
You also get a free Miiverse level on the Wii U with updating the game. So get your Wii U and 3DS fired up and smash away!
New characters for Super Smash Bros. ideas
I still have hopes for some other new characters. My biggest hope is that they bring Banjo & Kazooie to Super Smash. They would make a great duo and they can form a nice couterpart for the Duck Hunt duo. They can use the moves that they used in their games and thus created a character with close range and long range combat attacks. The down + B could be their Ground Pound, while Shooting eggs with B gives the duo enough diversity to make it in the raster.
Next to that I personally think that it would be nice if they bring characters from new Nintendo IP’s like Splatoon & Codename S.T.E.A.M., come to think about it, maybe a extra skin for Yoshi from his new Yoshi Wooly World game will be a nice addition to the game.
Lucas will be arriving soon, so Earthbound is also covered, but a Starfox character like Froggy seems nice to me too, but only if they created him with a whole new style of fighting. And not a clone like Star Wolf. Let’s give that Frog a stage! A nice counterpart for Greninja, let the battle of the Toads begin. And let’s not forget about Crystal! She would kick ass with her magic staff and be a nice addition to the Nintendo Girlpower in Super Smash Bros!
A secret hope is that also characters of Tales game (like Tales of Symphonia) can make their way into the Smash Bros Series.
Characters like Lloyd and Kratos are perfect to join the party. Their skills in fighting with a sword and Magic would make them a nice addition to the games series that are already in the game.
If you’re not familiar with the Tales Series I highly suggest you do and start with Tales of Symphonia! To me personally it was one the best games of the Nintendo Gamecube, definitely the best RPG on that Nintendo console.
And why stop there?
Why not bringing more classic characters back to make the whole clash of game video classic character even more divers. The whole Mario, Pac-Man, Mega Man and Sonic is already a battle of titans. But where is Crash (the earliest mascot of Sony), Spyro or even Kratos in this fight? With Playstation All Stars Sony (kind off) showed that they would fit perfectly in a fighting game. And if a character like Master Chief or (a more colorful character) from a game serie like Viva Piñata then the whole clash of titans is complete with Mircosoft also fully present. This makes the whole internet fanboy discussion irrelevant and they can then actually fight it out on the Wii U in a 8 Player Smash! And then I haven’t even started on Final Fantasy.. Cloud anyone?!
This reminds me, that the appereance of a Young Link with specials attack triggered by his Mask from Majora would be even a bigger homeage to the Nintendo legacy. Still doubting of playing the game? Check out my Majora’s Mask 3D review.
